Since its inception in 2010, 67 Sueños have been at the forefront of utilizing visual arts & poetry to push the movement forward.
Thus far 67 Sueños youth have designed and painted over 10 large-scale murals throughout Oakland and San Francisco. These powerful murals not only beautify our communities and pay respect to Bay Area culture, but they also intend to empower people of color and keep our hxstories alive and thriving.
Last year we published our first poetry anthology, which included pieces that touched on everything from migration journeys, surviving gun violence in Oakland, and condemning patriarchy. We are returning this year with yet another powerful anthology that we’re very excited to share!
Th...is year we are again breaking new ground as we prepare to premier a short film that focused on the stories of Ale and Yose, two of our all-star xingona OGs. This short film followed them through their journey surviving and thriving in school, in their homelife and in their Oakland barrios, and in this xenophobic political climate.
Please join us for an evening of celebrating our youth’s artistic contributions as we host a mural gallery exhibit, and the release of Ale & Yose’s short film and “Decolonizing our Minds through our Ancestral Roots”, our 2nd annual poetry anthology!
This fundraising event will include tasty food & drinks, music & dance, and a raffling of our mural canvases. We will also be selling custom-made decorative candles and tiles, 67 Sueños apparel, and copies of our poetry anthologies! You do not want to miss out!
