→ Step into the Cantina (aka the Academy’s central Piazza) to grab a drink and catch an otherworldly performance by Blackbird Blackbird, the folktronica moniker of San Francisco-based wünderkind Mikey Maramag, while surrounded by galactic projections by artist Colin Harrington.
→ Brave the world of snow and ice and travel to the East Garden (aka Hoth), where you can take a twirl on our seasonal ice rink and encounter snow flurries while electronic producer Qrion and DJ DavOmakesbeats (of Swagger Like Us/Molly House Records) spin tunes to help inspire your moves.
→ Wander among droids built by the Bay Area R2 Builders
and pose for photos with the The 501st Legion
and other local costume clubs.
→ Get into character during a lightsaber workshop and prepare to be wowed by epic lightsaber battles by the Saber Guild and Golden Gate Knights
→ See if the force is strong with you when you slip on an EEG reader customized by Harrington and learn about neuro-imaging with UCSF.
→ Descend into Naboo’s underwater city (aka the Philippine Coral Reef) for a set by Make It Funky
→ Visit Kashyyyk (aka the four-story rainforest dome); stargaze from Cloud City (aka the Living Roof); and board the Death Star (aka Morrison Planetarium) for a live Academy Update followed by three screenings of Worlds Far, Far Away.
NightLife ice skating sessions run from 6–9:30 pm. Add one to your NightLife ticket for $10.
NEW! RESERVED PLANETARIUM PASSES
— Guarantee your seat under the stars! Reserve a Planetarium Pass to select your showtime in advance. Optional, but recommended. $3 per pass. Available online only.
— Free passes will still be available onsite at the planetarium kiosk on a first-come, first-served basis. Early event arrival is strongly recommended due to limited capacity and high demand for passes.
— Last entry for our Rainforest dome is at 7:45 pm. Please note: drinks are not allowed inside the Rainforest exhibit.
— Enjoy a different fresh seasonal «craft on draft» cocktail at each NightLife bar area. All bars accept cash and credit cards.
— A variety of food options are available at NightLife, including The Academy Café, The Terrace, and a food cart located in the front lobby.
— Special programs and lectures may have limited seating and admission will also be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
